banh mi joint

I’m not quite sure I should call this a dinner… I guess it was the one I had at sunset? Anyway I was hungry again and decided for a Bánh mì, the vietnamese sandwich with beef, cucumber, carrots and garlic sauce.
The girl that served it to me now sits with a hand on her forehead and eyes. Maybe she’s making some math in her head, or she’s just tired. The hand moves and we make a brief eye contact. I look away and observe the rest of the scene. On the other side of the room, a fatty little girl is staring at her smartphone.
With my eyes I go back to the first girl. Actually there’s another one sat at her table. She’s eating a passion fruit juice with a spoon, dipping the spoon flat on the surface of her drink, so to fill it with pulp and no seeds. I don’t like passion fruit seeds either.
A young guy shows up. He says something that gets completely ignored, so he sits at the table and checks his tablet.
In the middle of the scene, an altar placed on the floor is blinking like a christmas tree. It is supposed to bring good luck, so they say.
A second altar is placed on top of the backdoor, a full-figure of a person in state of bliss with a multitude of LED rays of light running from behind his head.

This place has no quality.

The young guy stands up and disappear behind the backdoor. The little girl is still trying to eat the pulp of her juice. I press the cigarette butt against the empty plate and I leave without saying goodbye.

WORD OF THE DAY: Brazen (bold and without shame)
